Springfield, MA (08/11/2023): Meanwhile, several At-Large City Council candidates participated in a Wednesday forum hosted by St. John’s Congregational Church.

The candidates were asked what legislative power will they have to continue to improve the lives of residents in Springfield.

Latorre said making the city affordable as a place to live is a major priority.

“Your average property taxes have gone up by over $1,000 in the last eight years and it’s because your city budget has gone up by over 54% in 10 years, while the population of the city has grown by about one and a half percent over the same time,” he said.
